MAZAZIK DANCE

Egyptian, Raqs Sharqi (Dance of the East) and bellydance done differently.

It's not what you wear, it's how you feel.
It's for music lovers who want a deep connection with the sounds they're dancing to.
And what's the why?  Every Mazazik theme will explore a different motivation, a different reason for us to dance.

The good news, and what many don't know is that, when this dance is practiced with a combination of bodywork practices and discipline, it is probably one of the safest and accessible of all dance forms with its combination of earthy and natural movement.

Mazazik will suit you if you're looking for a dance opportunity to:
* feel better in your body
* enjoy it whatever level you're at
* to dance to ALL kinds of music
* also delve into other cultures
* spend time with people like you enjoy exploring and continually learning

Mazazik Dance is also a trademarked system of dance tuition based on movement mantras to learn the basic technique, and dance themes to inspire and learn from.

You will get

*a thorough grounding in technique
* a growing confidence to dance your own dance
* an abiity to focus on learning musical patterns
* an infinite creative approach to movement and your connection to it.

I don't claim to be the best drummer in the world!   And the Mazazik Drum Circle isn't about being a clever soloist.
It is designed to continue the centuries old tradition of community frame drumming, often performed by women, which is non-competitive and wonderfully inclusive.

I've been drumming for many years, firstly with Adam Warne, Guy Schalom and Tim Garside in the UK and in Egypt with Hamada Fathy and Saleh Dahab.

And the drumming I love to do reflects the cultures, principally those of Africa and the East, where making music is enjoyed within the community and not so much taught as picked up from an early age.  In the Mazazik Drum Circle we'll play with rhythms from Egypt, Nubia, Morocco, and Turkey.

So if you'd like to try it why not work through the free Drum Bites tutorials on my YouTube channel .

We currently have a short live session every month in Yorkshire and I'm planning more Zoom practice sessions.
