There is no pressure whatsoever to join in with the Performance Group, and it is not the focus of my teaching. But for those who would like to try it, my aim is to offer a small number of performance opportunities throughout the year. We have been regular participants in the spectacular Manchester Day Parade, and community choreographies are always part of the annual Mazazik Festival in November where we get together to dance, learn and socialise. Increasingly I am developing projects to be filmed, either for audio visual presentations, as teaching resources or for my YouTube channel (JaneWass1).
There are two levels of participation.
COMMUNITY LEVEL - open to all
* Dance or animate (wear costume, create atmosphere, hand out flyers) in one major public event a year (such as the Manchester Day Parade) and the Mazazik Festival hafla.
* Build confidence, dance with a group, develop your dance.
* Technique and choreographies will be done online and in regular classes, with one compulsory rehearsal a year in early June.
PERFORMANCE GROUP 2 - by invitation
* Dance in all the above, plus community events, haflas, filming projects.
*participate in choreographies to develop your skills and feel the fulfillment of creating something more challenging
* new choreographies will be taught onlien and polished in final rehearsals
Our work, our costumes, our repertoire has developed a lot since the early days. Here are some photos which trace our journey.
Thanks to everyone who has been involved over the years.
